Ecoturismo em unidades de conservação no Estado do Amazonas: um estudo sobre o parque nacional Anavilhanas

Abstract

This research investigates the practical way in which ecotourism in the National Park of Anavilhanas, an important natural tourism attraction, can become a viable alternative for the economic, social and environmental development of the municipality of Novo Airão, situated on the right bank of the Negro River, in the State of Amazonas. An exploratory and descriptive case study was used in this research, with qualitative and quantitative methods. The paradigms that guided the work were the practice of ecotourism and its contribution to the development of sustainable tourism. The results show that there is a two-way relationship between the practice of ecotourism and social benefits, and that this relationship is still fragmented. It is concluded that there are good prospects for the develop of the region through sustainable tourism, with focus on ecotourism in Parna de Anavilhanas, but that this will depend on the ability of all the players involved to build a foundation of cooperation that seeks the greater good: environmental preservation with social and cultural valorization and economic equity.
