Ensino médio articulado com a educação profissional: currículo, prática docente e empregabilidade

Abstract

Its objective is to characterize how the curricula and teaching practices on the High School Education linked to professional Training, offered by a vocational education institution in the state of Santa Catarina, affected the employability of young former students of this institution in the period 2006 to 2010. Thirty students took part in this study, all of whom had completed the High School Education linked to professional Training. Of these, eight were selected to complete a semi-structured interview. These former students were asked about the curriculum and the teaching practice of the course and how these affected their employability. Questionnaires and interviews were used for the data collection, and the data were analyzed using content analysis. The theoretical background was based on studies by Kuenzer, Regattieri, Mourao, Castro, and Gesser Rangheti, Cord, and Deluiz, and on official documents. The results of the survey indicated that the former students surveyed acknowledged the impact of the curriculum and teaching practices of the technical courses, on their employability. Teaching practices in professional training can be considered in a particular way; mastery of the technical area by the teacher provides the student with an exchange of valuable experiences for their employability. The technical courses represent, for the student, a simulation of what will happen in the job market. Within this perspective, the course curriculum is related to the demands of the job market; the student who enrolls in high School Education linked to professional Training already expects to find, on the course, disciplines that have the logic of the world of work
